The Bastables & New Life Home Trust

Guy-Susanna-Savelberg-February-2011-1-150x150Guy & Susanna Bastable are cherished members of our extended CITYCHURCH family. After 50 years living in the prosperous West, they intend living out the next 50 (or so) in Kenya. They and their two Kenyan sons, Levi & Gerro, left the North-East in 2010 and are now running a rescue home for abandoned babies in Kenya’s bustling capital city, Nairobi. The home is one of six, situated all across Kenya.

New Life Home Trust was set up by Clive & Mary Beckenham, who went to Kenya to train and release Kenyan church leaders to evangelise the many unreached people groups in the mainly Muslim north and east of the country. This ministry continues, but when Mary read about the plight of abandoned babies in the local paper, she & Clive opened their home to three of them. This idea rapidly grew arms and legs and currently they have welcomed almost 1,300 babies into their homes! Most have been adopted and are now, in a very real sense, experiencing “New Life”. The Trust also runs many other initiatives and programmes to help care for orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children.

Kenya-Kilimani-Tabitha-150x150The Bastable family seem to have settled into their new life remarkably well and we love to hear their stories whenever they come to visit.  Guy & Susanna have extended an open invitation for anyone to “come and see” this wonderful ministry in the flesh. Quite a few of us already have.
